All SCHA members are entitled to use our docks and beach areas. Over the past 2 years we have made significant improvements to the docks. All dinghies are now stored on the docks in order to keep them off conservation/grass areas. We have 84 Kayak racks built, 20 at Whippoorwill and 64 at Manitoba. Dock Improvements The Whippoorwill dock was upgraded in 2018. Some of the improvements included:
2019 NEW DINGHY POLICY Our docks are intended for the beneficial use of the entire Association. The primary use of our docks is for transient boat tie-up which allows for loading and unloading of people and gear. Many of these boats are kept on moorings in surrounding waterways and require a dinghy to get to. In an effort to manage the number of dinghies tied to our docks and to offset some of the reoccurring dock maintenance costs, a permitted dingy policy will be implemented starting with the 2019 season. The highlights of this policy are:
The complete policy and application process are being finalized and will be posted on the website this spring. Please continue to check back. The board reserves the right to reduce the acceptable dinghy length (LOA) and amend the policy on an annual basis to accommodate the requirements of the Association. We strongly suggest you maintain or purchase the smallest dinghy that meets your boating needs. Depending on the numbers of applications and permits issued, the board may need to further reduce the acceptable dingy length (LOA) in future years Kayak Racks The SCHA now has 20 Kayak Racks at the Whipporwill dock area and 64 at the Metecomet recreational area. We currently are maintaining a waitlist for members requesting rack space. If you are interested in a new Kayak rack, please fill out a Kayak Rack Request HERE. |
